An Unreachable Perfection

It's that time of the year... the time for most girls (and probably guys) to sit around the TV and watch the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Only for the girls, it tends to be a very depressing hour of their lives, watching the prettiest girls on the face of the earth with perfect bodies prance around in bras and underwear; wondering in their head the whole time, "why can't I be like that?!", or "what can I do to be like her?", as they eat a whole box of ice-cream.
However, although it's a sought out dream for almost every girl on the planet, what most need to realize is that it's basically impossible for anyone to accomplish it, the chances are literally 1 in a million. According to Chief Marketing Officer for Victoria's Secret, Edward Rezik, "Fewer than 100 girls in the entire world have the potential to be a Victoria's Secret Model."Which is not really surprising when you look at the certain requirements they need to have in addition to having phenomenal looks.
I just feel as though in today's world, the amount of pressure on how to look "the right way" is crazy and what is considered pretty is near impossible as they show it in the show, or just in magazines. We talked about it in health the other day how not one picture in a magazine ad, or photo of a celebrity isn't retouched in some way. I just think it's a little scary how people don't know this and young girls are getting unrealistic ideas on how they should really look based on fake pictures of people who can't reach that perfection themselves. These extreme retouches can be recognized in this video Dove put out. And although on the Victoria's Secret Show, these girls actually have reached this idea of perfection, younger girls need to know that it's completely unrealistic to even strive for that.
I just feel as though our country has set out it's own definition of what people should really look like, when it's impossible for any normal person to get that way. What do you think?
